From carriers and virtual excitons to exciton populations: Insights into time-resolved ARPES spectra from an exactly solvable model

چکیده
We calculate the {\em exact} time-resolved ARPES spectrum of a two-band model semiconductor driven out equilibrium by resonant and nonresonant laser pulses, highlighting effects phonon-induced decoherence relaxation. Resonant} excitations initially yield replica valence} band shifted upward energy exciton peak in photoabsorption. This phase is eventually destroyed decoherence: valence-band lowers Stokes shift, locating at photoluminescence, its width grows due to phonon dressing. Nonresonant} map conduction band. Then electrons transfer their excess lattice bind with holes left behind form excitons. In this relaxed regime conduction} appears inside gap. At fixed momentum lineshape conduction-band versus photoelectron proportional wavefunction "energy space" it highly asymmetric. Although represents an oversimplified description real materials highlighted features are qualitative nature; hence they provide useful insights into spectra physical interpretation.

The Quantum Measurement Process: Lessons from an Exactly Solvable Model
The measurement of a spin1 2 is modeled by coupling it to an apparatus, that consists of an Ising magnetic dot coupled to a phonon bath. Features of quantum measurements are derived from the dynamical solution of the measurement, regarded as a process of quantum statistical mechanics. Schrödinger cat terms involving both the system and the apparatus, die out very quickly, while the registration...
متن کاملExciton dephasing in quantum dots due to LO-phonon coupling: an exactly solvable model.
It is widely believed that, due to its discrete nature, excitonic states in a quantum dot coupled to dispersionless longitudinal-optical (LO) phonons form everlasting mixed states (exciton polarons) showing no line broadening in the spectrum. This is indeed true if the model is restricted to a limited number of excitonic states in a quantum dot. We show, however, that extending the model to a l...
متن کاملTopology and phase transitions: from an exactly solvable model to a relation between topology and thermodynamics.
The elsewhere surmized topological origin of phase transitions is given here important evidence through the analytic study of an exactly solvable model for which both topology of submanifolds of configuration space and thermodynamics are worked out. The model is a mean-field one with a k-body interaction. It undergoes a second-order phase transition for k=2 and a first-order one for k >2 . This...
متن کاملFermi-transitions in an exactly solvable model
An exactly solvable model suitable for the description of single and double-beta decay processes of the Fermi-type is introduced. The model is equivalent to the exact shell-model treatment of protons and neutrons in a single j-shell. Exact eigenvalues and eigenvectors are compared to those corresponding to the hamiltonian in the quasiparticle basis (qp) and with the results of both the standard...
متن کامل4 Exactly - solvable problems for two - dimensional excitons
Several problems in mathematical physics relating to excitons in two dimensions are considered. First, a fascinating numerical result from a theoretical treatment of screened excitons stimulates a re-evaluation of the familiar two-dimensional hydrogen atom. Formulating the latter problem in momentum space leads to a new integral relation in terms of special functions, and fresh insights into th...
